Mwuaka BWanji

Good morning family and friends (afternoon for me)! I'm sorry I haven't kept up with my blog the past few days I only have Internet service in the common area and it's been full in the evenings.
So I'll start with Wednesday...I went into town with Don, Jane, Julia and two staff members (Uncle G and Banda) to shop for the House of Martha (older kids). The team before I got here left money for Jane to go buy the house a new washer, sewing machines and vacuum cleaner (trust me I already have a list I want to buy before leaving for the houses). When we took everything over to the house the kids were so excited. They were jumping up and down with Mom Nelly (house mom) and the vacuum cleaner. They are all so grateful for everything that they have.
Wednesday evening we hung at the house and had a wonderful dinner. It was just our small group that have become family (Don, Jane, Heidi, Daniel, Julia and Banda). We had so much fun sitting and laughing and talking. It was like sitting at a family gathering except we let the boys sit with us:).
Thursday morning Don and Jane drove Julia and I out to Chamanuka for the day. This was our "personal" day. It's about an hour drive on dirt roads. I was able to see the side of Africa I was envisioning. We passed a lot of huts, people walking for miles with goods on their head, etc.
Chamanuka is like a small safari resort. It was breath taking. We went out on a game drive to see the wildlife for about two hours, took a boat ride and went horse back riding. We were up close and personal with lions, giraffes, elephants, impalas, and more. I have lots of pictures to share.
The craziest part of being away from the house for 24 hours is that I missed the kids terribly. I heard a baby cry at the resort and got real sad and anxious to get back this morning. I'm not real sure what I will do next week:(. I'm trying to not think about it and enjoy the next few days.
I'm going to spend the rest of this afternoon with the toddlers and babies then this evening we're heading to House of Martha to fix dinner with the big kids and hang out. I can't wait! Tomorrow we're going to go back over and spend the day with them playing ball and doing other activities. We are thinking of getting ingredients to make cupcakes with them and let them decorate.
I love being here with the babies and toddlers, but I really like visiting the older kids. I'm super excited I'll be able to spend this evening and tomorrow with them before I have to head home. Thank you Jesus for my flight getting messed up and allowing me two more days here:)!
I'm off to play with little ones. Love you all! Thanks for prayers and support. Sorry I haven't responded to comments I've tried limiting my time online, but I'm reading them and loving them all!

  1. Kasia forwarded me the link to your blog today and I am in awe of you and what you are doing. It brings me to tears. You are such an amazing person and those kids are so lucky to be able to be touched and loved by you! Enjoy the rest of your time and I cannot wait to see pics and hear all about it. We will have to have a girls night out one evening when you get settled back in!

    Love, Megan
